Translating

I translate from German to English and French to English, using American or British spelling.

I have focused on international relations, development policy and human rights, the environment, sociology, ethnology and conflict resolution, and am particularly interested in the Middle East and Muslim societies, Africa, Europe and the Americas.

I translate all kinds of film material (exposés, scripts, subtitles) and journalism, as well as art catalogues, websites, literature and philosophy.

A word-for-word translation cannot render a text's meaning and style! My extensive copy-editing experience helps me to produce accurate and elegant work.

Confidentiality and punctuality are my bywords.

I also receive frequent requests to do community interpreting (for health and social services) and consecutive interpreting for meetings and events.

  • “We’ve looked at the text and are very, very satisfied. It reads fluently and elegantly and very closely echoes the original text. Our graphic designer was bothered because the English version is so much shorter than the German – but I take that as a sign of a very concise and lean language style that I like."
